Connie Colton, a middle
school teacher and Department Chair in Omaha, NE, is certified in early
adolescence mathematics by the National Board for Professional Teachers. In
addition to her school responsibilities, Connie is a Math Counts coach,
occasional instructor at Iowa Western Community College, and presenter for the
U.S. Department of Education. As a member of the Department’s
Teacher-to-Teacher Corps, she has shared her content and teaching expertise in
dozens of states. Connie has wide-ranging experience with reviewing and
benchmarking standards and mathematics curriculum, most recently in the states of Georgia and Washington. She not only understands standards, she knows what it takes
to implement them in the classroom.
