Standards

Rigorous academic standards have never been more important. Students need more knowledge and more skills to thrive in an increasingly complex world and to compete in a global economy. Increasingly, states are revising standards to ensure that students leave school ready for postsecondary education, whether it is college or technical training. 

 

And, increasingly states understand that academic standards must be rigorous and reasonable, clear and measurable. 

 

Strategic Teaching was created to assist the movement toward high standards. We are expert at analyzing, reviewing, and helping develop standards.  

 

Our approach to reviewing:

· Compares state standards to well-respected national and international standards and assessment frameworks;

· Evaluates each grade level standard to determine its level of rigor, specificity, measurability, and clarity; and

· Reviews the standards document as a whole to determine such things as grade-to-grade coherence.

· Considers well-respected national and international standards and assessment frameworks;

· Involves stakeholders within the state; and

· Relies on input from nationally recognized content experts.
