![]() Cheryl Krehbiel Cheryl brings a commitment to underserved students, a background rich in experience, a wealth of talent, and exemplary certification to her current work as a staff developer. Prior to serving in staff development, she worked as part of a team hired to turn around one of the lowest performing schools in Montgomery County, MD. After 3 years of consistent student gains, her school, where about one third of the students are learning English and 90 percent live in poverty, made AYP in all categories during Cheryl's last two years in the building. Always drawn to supporting under performing students in urban settings, Cheryl has worked in New York City; Wilmington, Delaware; and Chicago, Illinois. Beyond teaching, Cheryl zealously advocates for our children. While working with the Council for Basic Education as a standards and instruction specialist, she helped establish rigorous expectations for all students in several states. She has written for the US Department of Education, served as a panelist for several national Town Hall Meetings, and meet with President Bush to discuss his education initiatives. In every case, she actively supports what is necessary to raise student achievement. She holds certification credentials in elementary and special education and in educational administration. In 1998, she earned National Board Certification with a middle childhood generalist certificate. |
