Eunice Greer

Eunice Ann Greer, PhD, is a Principal Research Analyst at the American
Institutes for Research in Washington, DC. Currently, her work is focused
on the Ohio State assessment design and on the development, alignment and
implementation of standards-based systems of instruction and assessment.
Eunice has successfully straddled the line of policy and implementation
as:
- Associate superintendent for the Illinois State Board of Education where
she directed the Illinois Reads-Statewide Reading Initiative;
- Division Administrator for Standards and Assessment for the Illinois State
Board of Education. Eunice was instrumental in Illinois' successful application
for a $37 million dollar Reading Excellence Act Grant from the Department
of Education. Under her leadership, Illinois was the first state to receive
the Five Star Award for Exemplary Statewide Reading Initiatives from the
International Reading Association.
Eunice has also worked as an Assistant Professor in the department of curriculum
and instruction of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as the
Director of Research for an urban middle school reform project at the Harvard
Graduate School of Education, and as a literacy assessment coordinator
for the University of Illinois' Center for the Study of Reading.
