Linda Plattner

During the twelve years Linda worked within a school district, she enjoyed many opportunities beyond the classroom. Her background as a mathematics teacher and curriculum specialist allowed her to:
  • Help develop Washington’s State Assessment System and the accompanying professional development activities used across the state;
  • Work with Dr. Rick Stiggins as one of Washington State’s Assessment Specialists;
  • Co-direct the development of the Washington State Portfolio system; and
  • Work for many years with the New Standards Project, creating and scoring tasks, portfolios, and helping with the development of their Reference Exam.

After leaving Washington State, Linda worked for the Council for Basic Education where she was able to direct a 10-person team, which worked in states and districts across the country to facilitate standards development and implementation as well as conduct standards-systems alignment audits. During that time she served on the Planning and Management Committees for the National Assessment for Education Progress 2004 Revision of the Mathematics Framework.

Creating Strategic Teaching has given her the opportunity to focus on underperforming schools and underachieving students. She has worked at the national, state, district, and building levels, providing system evaluation and alignment, assessment expertise,   and content-based professional development.
